The Early Years

Robert (Rob) Lee was born on May 20, 1981 in Cheyenne, WY. To answer the two most common questions about that — 1) Rob was not named after General Robert E. Lee, and 2) he’s not personal friends with Dick Cheney.

After his parents separated, Rob was raised by his father who taught him the most important lesson of his life — there is never enough work you can do to make sure your family is taken care of. The work you put in for the people and things you care about is not a sacrifice; it’s a privilege and an honor.

After graduating from high school, Rob attended Colorado State University on a debate scholarship. A nationally ranked competitor, he finished among the top eight teams in the country in parliamentary debate in 2002. In 2003, he also individually placed 13th at the national championship tournament. Rob graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

A Young Conservative

Rob immediately became involved in local politics and quickly learned how he could help the Republican Party. He eventually became Chairman of the College Republicans at CSU and the Vice Chairman of the Colorado College Republicans statewide organization. Additionally, Rob fought for campus reforms that protected the rights of all students, especially conservative students, to express their academic freedom. His efforts eventually resulted in changes to student manuals that made it explicitly clear that students have a First Amendment right to their views and cannot be academically punished for them.

After graduation, Rob went to work for the College Republican National Committee as the Field Representative for Nevada. His job was to recruit, train, and mobilize CRs on the two major college campuses in Nevada located in Reno and Las Vegas, and he eventually helped establish bodies at smaller local colleges in other locations. As the Nevada team leader, Rob worked with local CRs to recruit thousands of new members and mobilize those members into volunteering with both the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign and with other local candidates. On a side note, George W. Bush won mock elections on both college campuses by double digit margins, proving that hard work actually brings young conservatives to the polls.

The Budding Entrepreneur

Rob then landed in Illinois, working for an international manufacturer of electronic controls. He started in the quality department and began learning important professional skills such as Lean, Six Sigma, and other management techniques that help organizations run efficiently and effectively. Within a few years, he was managing the internal quality system, became certified multiple times as an auditor, and maintained quality oversight on numerous facilities, both domestic and foreign.

About this time, Rob began to see how politics was severely lacking in many of these professional techniques, and he started his company, 2g Strategies. His first clients were two candidates running for school board in one of Illinois’s largest school districts, and both were successful at unseating incumbent board members on a small budget of only a few thousand dollars.

Eventually, Rob gained a promotion from his employer and began managing multiple manufacturing programs while he continued to maintain small, but steady, growth with his own company.

Georgia On My Mind

In May 2011, Rob moved to Georgia. He immediately went to work learning how the Republican Party worked and got involved with the Georgia Young Republicans. By July, Rob was serving as the Communications Director for the Georgia Young Republicans. He became active in multiple chapters, notably Atlanta and Cobb County.

In 2014, Rob served as the Treasurer for the Atlanta Young Republicans. Later that fall, he was elected as the Chairman of the Cobb Young Republicans and served in that position until he was elected Chairman of the Georgia Young Republicans in 2015. During his tenure as Chairman, the organization was recognized nationally with multiple awards, including The Best State Federation in 2016.

In February 2014, Rob met the woman who would become his wife, Blair. Originally from West Georgia, Blair was the last piece of what truly made Georgia home for Rob. Together, they have started a family, adopted numerous rescue animals, and bought a business in July 2018.

Rob and Blair currently reside in Kennesaw. Their first child, Blake, will be born within the next few months. Their other “children” – Happy, Grace, and Avett – are all rescue pets. Together, they own Lesix Media, LLC and Lesix Direct Marketing, Inc.
